Home is Where the Heart is

Happy Tuesday friends! Let’s dive right in.

Q: What does “home” mean to you?

A: To me, home isn’t always literal or the traditional sense of where you frequently rest your head. It’s somewhere you feel most creative, supported, comfortable…home can be anywhere where your environment helps you thrive! For me, that looks like a bustling city, cafes, artsy streets, neighborhood libraries, nature and so much more! home is also found in my closest friends and family. I thrive on the energy of a busy environment and aim to balance that with relaxation.

I’m a San Fernando Valley (SFV) native and left my heart in San Francisco. The city has given me a new place to call home after four jam-packed years pursuing my undergraduate degrees at SFSU. These days it’s eerily quiet due to the pandemic but I look forward to the welcoming back the vibrant, creative, and typically tourist-filled city that has brought me so many beautiful adventures.

Despite the closures, a recent weekend trip to SF still hit all the gooey feelings I associate with the city. Outdoor dining is booming while live music is hidden in pockets with the sights from North Beach & the aroma of little Italy…well it speaks for itself. Paired with a few hellos to good friends, nostalgia is hitting me hard.

It’s safe to say that my time in SF ended all too abruptly. I said goodbye to my crazy roomies, our little sunset house, and my favorite cafes just over a month ago. Now I’m hunting for the little things that make being back home feel like it used to be. I’m not much of a homebody either so between job hunting (no luck yet) and being uprooted then re-planted in my old stomping grounds, I’m looking for any silver lining I can find. Note to self: keep your head up!

In honor of the foundations this blog was started on, here are some reflections:

🌷Mindset - Your progress does not have to be linear. All steps forward are meant to be celebrated.
